New staff members added at Mike’s Tire

Bill Nachman | Posted on Sep 26, 2012 - 11:29 AM Printer Friendly View

Mike’s Tire and Automotive, located on Route 17 at Ordinary, has expanded its services and staff.

Owner Monty Haskell said his shop has continued to beef up its auto service and repair business since 1993. It recently upgraded some of its computerized equipment including alignment and balancing.

In addition, Haskell has added three new staff members: a service manager and two automotive technicians. Each brings varied automotive experience to their position, Haskell said.

Bob Wescott of Hayes, is the new service manager. He writes up service orders and oversees the technicians. Wescott said he has more than 40 years’ automotive experience including having owned an auto repair shop in Gloucester.

Wescott said that customers at Mike’s get to talk directly to the technician working on their vehicle, giving the customer a chance to better describe the problem to the technician before a detailed check begins.

Peter Mushinsky of Hayes, recently joined the staff as an automotive technician, specializing in import vehicles including repairs for all European and Asian models.

Mushinsky has more than 20 years’ auto repair experience, having worked at several Peninsula and Gloucester shops. Previously, he was a service advisor for eight years at a Newport News business and later sold cars at a Newport News dealership for five years. The ASE-certified mechanic previously worked at Wescott’s shop at Hayes.

Tyler Guy of Gloucester, is a new technician at Mike’s. The Gloucester High School graduate currently is attending a diesel program at Tidewater Community College in Chesapeake.

His father, Jimmy Guy, another owner of the business, said that his son is one of the youngest certified state inspectors in Virginia.
