Main Street Association members chart future course

Bill Nachman | Posted on Mar 13, 2013 - 11:08 AM Printer Friendly View

The Gloucester Main Street Association held a successful members’ meeting on Feb. 19 at the Main Street Event Space. President Mac Houtz said approximately 35 people attended the meeting.

Houtz said the members present discussed programs during 2012 and began planning programs for 2013. "We talked about what worked and what didn’t."

For example, Houtz said members were extremely pleased with the music and microbrews concept of two events. "Brew Jam" was held last spring for the first time, Houtz said, while "Blues and Brews" was held for the third time last fall. This year, Brew Jam is slated for May 11; Blues and Brews is set for Oct. 12.

Not as successful was a farmers’ market, which Houtz said members want retooled for 2013. Plans are in the works to relocate the market, he said, and for it to run each Wednesday from mid-May through August.
