GMSA Farmers’ Market off to good start

The third annual Gloucester Main Street Association Farmers’ Market got off to a good start on June 6, executive director Jen Christman said.
About a half dozen vendors participated in the first of the weekly markets, which will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. each Wednesday through August, except for Independence Day, July 4.
After investigating several sites to hold this year’s market, organizers settled upon the parking lot on Main that serves Bay Aging and the Gloucester Active Lifestyle Center.
Christman expects 10-12 vendors some weeks when the peak produce season arrives. Vendors may sell Virginia grown or made products, she said, with the first market including vendors selling bison and other specialty meats, jams and jellies and fresh-baked products.
