Gloucester’s Summer Nights Markets underway
The Gloucester Main Street Association launched the 2014 season of its Summer Nights Markets on June 4.
The markets are scheduled from 4:30-7 p.m. each Wednesday in June, July and August on Carriage Court behind the Gloucester Museum of History.
A special market, “Live Life Stronger,” is planned for next Wednesday, June 18, said Ashley Gilmartin, executive director of the Gloucester Main Street Association. A program will be presented by Tidewater Performance and Tidewater Physical Therapy, whose staff will be on hand to measure grip strength and participants’ ability to jump.
A leader board will be set up so participants can measure their ability. “Get inspired while having some fun,” Gilmartin said of the fitness program.
The Hark will be the live musical entertainment on June 18. Based in Williamsburg, the group includes vocalist Liana Jones and guitarist/pianist/vocalist Dave Waltrip. The Hark offers “an eclectic mix of material that sets them apart from so many other acts out there today,” a release said, “combining combine rock, soul, folk and dance from the ’60s to today in their own unique style.”
“We want to make Main Street a mid-week destination for families,” Gilmartin said. For more information, call her at 695-0700.
