A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. today for Gloucester’s new Chick-fil-A restaurant located on Route 17 at the entrance to Fox Mill Center south of the village.

John F. Gordon III of Gloucester, the store’s owner/operator, said the public is invited to attend the opening ceremony. Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Montross) will help open the store, Gordon said, and corporate officials will attend. Cadets from Gloucester High School’s NJROTC program will handle the flag ceremony, and members of the school’s band will perform along with a student leading the National Anthem.

People began registering at 6 a.m. yesterday for the opportunity to be one of the qualified participants to receive a year of free Chick-fil-A meals (one combo meal per week for 52 weeks). The first 100 registered people to camp out in front of the store until 6 a.m. today will receive the coupons.

Excitement about the new restaurant has been gaining momentum in recent weeks, with over 1,700 fans signed up to the Gloucester Chick-fil-A Facebook page, as of Friday.
