GB Buffet is a new dining option at Hayes.
The all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant opened in early December at Hayes Plaza Shopping Center on Route 17. Owner/president Jennifer L. Obasun runs the restaurant full-time and serves lunch and dinner.
Obasun said hers is a country-style buffet, with a menu that varies day to day. Specials are offered on a regular basis.
The 7,200-square-foot restaurant seats 250 persons in four dining areas, including 150 that can be seated in a banquet area.
Diners can select foods from a number of serving stations. Popular entrees in the first few weeks of business include seafood, liver and onions, and crab legs (included on the buffet only on Sundays).
A full salad bar is offered, along with an assortment of vegetable dishes like collards, and sweet potato and green bean casseroles. “Vegetables are real popular,” Obasun said.
Homemade desserts abound. Obasun mentioned the Boston cream pie that both tastes good and is a tip of the hat to where she grew up.
