Coleman’s Crossing development well ahead of schedule

Quinton Sheppard | Posted on Nov 14, 2012 - 11:54 AM Printer Friendly View

Construction on the Coleman’s Crossing development at Hayes got underway in June 2011. Since then, the project has far exceeded expectations from its developers and is well ahead of schedule.

Patsy Hall, one of the project developers, said Coleman’s Crossing prides itself on contracting out most of its work to local contractors on the Middle Peninsula. Also, she said 99 percent of the materials for the development are bought from local retailers.

The development, which offers distinctive townhouses and will soon be offering recreational amenities, unique office buildings, retail shops and dining, is in the process of finishing its 19th unit, Hall said.

"We feel it’s been very popular because we offer everything from one floor to two-story units," Hall said. "We put a lot of emphasis on light, in interior units as well as those on the end." She said the development can also offer homeowners a detached garage, which is unique for townhouse communities.

The development is attracting buyers from out of state; however, Hall said most of those purchasing units are from Gloucester or York County. The demographics started out more with retired residents buying townhomes, but the latest buyers include a couple in their early 30s.
